CAJ made a submission to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee (NIAC) inquiry into a Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland (click here) along with papers including our response to the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC) advice on the Bill of Rights (click here), a paper on what is meant by ‘particular circumstances’ (click here) and our ‘Best Bill of Rights guide’ (available below). The closing date for evidence to NIAC was the 1/5/09.

Annual Report
The Bill of Rights Forum, that first met in early 2007, continued their work in drawing up advice on what a Bill of Rights for NI should contain. The Forum comprised 14 representatives of civil society and 14 representatives from the 5 main political parties.
CAJ represented the human rights sector on the Forum and chaired the working group on the preamble, implementation and enforcement of a Bill of Rights.
